BIRTH PREPARATION COURSE - A Pregnancy Yoga and Mindfulness Journey.

What to Expect:

An 8 week yoga and mindfulness journey to prepare you for birth and matrescence. The Birth Preparation Course not only prepares you for the birth of your baby but also for your rebirth as a mother and rebirth as a couple. This course honors birth as a rite of passage and creates a nourishing container in which to thrive together. Weekly 90 minute yoga and mindfulness classes that calm your nervous system and support your intuition. We start with the foundations of mindfulness and yoga and we build each week on mental and physical resilience. By the end of the course, you will feel more embodied and empowered to make your own decisions and move intuitively in your birth.

The course is designed for women in their second and third trimesters but please do contact me if you want to join in your first trimester. If you are further along in your pregnancy and will have given birth before the course finishes then please opt for drop in sessions. However, it will be most valuable to join at the beginning to benefit from the layout and flow of the course. Please see course layout below.

We use the following tools:

❋ Intentional Mindfulness Preparation

The course uses the 9 attributes of mindfulness to cultivate a greater capacity for transformation, change, intensity and change. Through intentional practices we focus on building response mechanisms to aid mental resilience.

❋ Sisterhood and Support

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself. The course revolves around the healing power of sisterhood as you grow alongside one another.

❋ Birth Education and Hypnobirthing

The course uses hypnobirthing techniques and birth education to prepare you to birth from an informed place of autonomy and empowerment.

❋ Specific Physical Preparation

The course uses pregnancy specific asanas to support your physical growth and Amelia is trained to support women with an array of pregnancy ailments. She can adapt any physical practice safely and appropriately. The course uses Pregnancy specific yoga and meditation to slow down, reconnect, and return to yourself. Through guided experiences and restorative practices we focus on calming your nervous system and grounding into your embodied experience as a mother.

“A women’s birth experience is not something that happens to her. A woman’s birth experience unmakes her and remakes her, it unravels her and it puts her together again.”
Dr Rachel Reed – midwife and author of Birth as a rite of passage.

“I put my sanity during pregnancy down to Amelia’s wisdom and teaching. Amelia is a strong feminine energy who has encouraged me to explore new corners of womanhood and has been there every step of the way for this life changing amazing experience of becoming a mother, I am eternally grateful!!!

“From early pregnancy to 6 months postpartum, Amelia’s womanly wisdom has guided me through the rollercoaster ride of having a baby!! Her calm support and knowledge of woman’s bodies has been an amazing confidence booster to keep moving, stretching, and breathing throughout pregnancy. Her classes ensured that I meditated, reflected and connected with other mums-to-be. Somehow Amelia messaged me out of the blue because she could feel that I was in labour from a different continent! I think this demonstrates the connection that she builds with the women who she supports.

Much of my postpartum recovery can be attributed to Amelia. Who knew Amelia is also a sports masseuse! She really knew the ins and outs of every muscle in my body and the classes were pitched perfectly. You feel like you leave feeling strengthened but not exhausted - instead energized and ready to return home to your lovely baby.”

Maddie.

“Thank you so much Amelia, I did everything that we practiced in our sessions and it all paid off. I felt like I had the inner strength to overcome my fears and my doubts during birth. I felt empowered to move and make sounds intuitively without being embarrassed. Thank you so much for supporting our family through such a transitional time as we welcome our baby boy into the world.”
